BETI BACHAO, BETI PADHAO

"A DAUGHTER IS THE HAPPY MEMORIES OF THE PAST, THE JOY OF THE PRESENT AND THE HOPE AND PROMISE OF THE FUTURE."

In a country that is battling with one of the world's worst gender gaps and where a large part of the population wants a wife and mother but no daughter, it is of utmost importance that daughters are allowed to be boron, to be looked after and to be educated so that they can stand on their own feet. Our parent organization, the State Bank of India, has been a major shareholder in the country's CSR activities. Together with many other schemes that have been launched by the Prime Minister through SBI as a major partner, the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao scheme, which is so dear to our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, will be taken up from the month of June by the Ladies Club Kolkata. For this programme, we are in the process of identifying institutions that look after, train and empower girl children with educational and vocational training. The members are ready and eager to support them with their expertise and help. This endeavour will be an ongoing process in an effort to encourage this scheme.

"E" FOR ENVIRONMENT

"WE HAVE BUT ONE WORLD, IT'S OUR DUTY TO KEEP IT SAFE FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS."

5th of June is World Environment Day. It will be the endeavour of the members of the Ladies Club Kolkata, to distribute as many saplings of medicinal and other useful plants as possible. Also, we are in the process of identifying schools with poor resources that can be gifted with potted plants, that have medicinal and scientific study purposes so that not only the environment in the school is enhanced, but also these plants can be used by the students to expand their knowledge of science. The State Bank Colonies will also undertake plantation drives during the course of this month.
